Cocoa + Wheat = Amazing Chocolate Chip Cookies! 

What better way to celebrate National Chocolate Day last week than to make chocolate chip cookies! And even better than chocolate chip cookies for a whole week is a bag of frozen chocolate chip cookie dough balls ready to be placed in the freezer at any time your taste buds desire! Not only does this all sound amazing but, it was also raining this fine day I made this! When Wes came home he was greeted with fresh baked cookies and an excited wife who tried out a new recipe!

I use one of my favorite recipes I found on Pinterest! The secret….. Vanilla pudding! When you search for recipes find any that use vanilla pudding in the recipe.The pudding keeps the cookies moist and not even one cookie becomes a flat pancake for me! If you don’t have time to search for a recipe check out the one below that I altered to fit my cooking needs!

Pudding Chocolate Chip Cookies (Altered by Bethany)

2 1/4 cups flour

1 t. baking soda

3/4 cup butter (softened, not melted. It is very important that you set the butter on the counter to soften or place in in the microwave on the soften setting)

3/4 cups packed brown sugar

1/4 cup sugar

1 package instant vanilla pudding (3.4 oz)

2 eggs

1 t. vanilla

2 cups chocolate chips (My favorite is mini chocolate chips!)

Preheat the oven to 350. Mix all dry ingredients together. Add in the wet ingredients. The mixture will be very hard to stir but that is perfectly fine! That is exactly the way the mixture should be.

Did you know… Chocolate is my favorite! Especially dark chocolate. Yummy! But enough about me, let’s get back to how those delectable little chocolate morsels are made so they can be added to my recipe!

How Chocolate is Made
Now since we know how those wonderful chocolate chips are made we can head back to my cookies. We have mixed all the ingredients together and can add the chocolate chips.

 Most people at this point would be thinking to themselves..”man that is a lot of cookies!” That’s what I thought, however then I had a brilliant idea! Why not try to freeze them! I get asked by my students all the time to buy frozen cookie dough in pre-made balls that just have to be placed on a pan and put in the oven. So why couldn’t I make my own? I could see no logical reason why not. So I did!

I took my cookie sheet and lined it with wax paper and used my cookie scoop to make perfect cookie balls. It doesn’t matter how far apart you place them because this batch is going into the freezer! The next batch pan I made went into the oven!

The best part of this rainy day was the fact that I had a house that smelled like freshly baked cookies, freshly baked cookies on my counter, and a whole bag of frozen chocolate chip cookie dough balls in my freezer! It doesn’t have to be National Chocolate Day or even a rainy day to make this awesome recipe! Enjoy!
